Jiu-Jitsu grappling is a foundational aspect of Kempo.  We offer grappling-specific classes to our students under the instruction of an advanced Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner to introduce them to the more direct form of the style.  These classes are not exclusively about BJJ; rather they demonstrate grappling in its relationship to Kempo and combat self-defense offering a well-rounded martial arts experience for our students.
Technique outweighs physical strength in grappling, making it ideal for students of all ages and sizes.  Grappling is tailored to the individual, and different levels of mobility or physical strength meet on an even playing field.

The Art of Jiu-Jitsu

Our grappling classes start with bodyweight exercises and movements designed to enhance grappling skills. The instructor demonstrates techniques that are drilled with repetition to reinforce retention and agility.  Classes also include situational sparring drills and open-mat sparring to apply newly learned techniques with resistance.
